Why does a full moon happen?

Have you ever stopped to think what causes a full moon? Most people love to enjoy them but don't know what causes them.

According to Astronomy.com, a full moon happens when Earth is perfectly between the Sun and the Moon. When they align the entire side of the Moon that faces Earth glows under the sunlight.

The angle the sunlight hits the Moon's surface and is reflected to Earth creates the different lunar phases. This is thanks to the Moon's orbit around the Earth.

The Worm Moon

The upcoming full moon is called the Worm Moon, marking the third full moon of 2025.

What makes this full moon so special is that there will also be a total lunar eclipse, also known as the 'blood moon.'
