If you're like me and own an iPhone, daily you may still figure out things that it does that you were not aware of. I can't tell you how many times I have handed my phone to one of my children and asked, 'What does this mean?' More often than not they know! I am still learning. So recently when I noticed something I had noticed before I took to the internet for answers and right away I got them. So this is what I have questions about.

Typically I look to that top right-hand corner to see if my WiFi is connected, to see how much battery I have left, or to see the little bars and find out how much signal strength I have but I noticed a little green dot, something I had never really paid attention to before and wondered what the heck is this?

WHAT IN THE HECK IS THE GREEN DOT THAT SHOWS UP ON MY IPHONE?

Thank goodness for Google. According to digitaltrends.com, the tiny green dot that is barely visible means that

an app is using your iPhone’s cameras. It can also signify when an app is using your camera and microphone together.

Several apps that you may notice the green dot pop up while using are FaceTime, Instagram, Snapchat and of course when you are using your phone camera.

So in theory the answer is yes, just be careful when using these particular apps. Once you are done it is best to exit out of each one and check to make sure the green dot is gone once you have done so.

The last thing you want is for any of these apps to continue being able to record video or for your microphone to be activated while not in use.
