San Antonio, Texas authorities were requested to perform a welfare check on behalf of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office just a couple days before Christmas because the ID of a man was found in possession of a woman attempting to flee deputies at Port O'Connor just moments after she set a truck on fire.

After receiving the welfare check request, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office found a dead man that had been shot in the face, inside a closet. The deceased man in Bexar County was determined to be the husband of the woman in police custody in Calhoun County.

Trying to track this story based on news articles is a little challenging, but if I am understanding this correctly, authorities believe Faith Goynes shot her husband in the face in the San Antonio area, drove the dead man's truck to the Gulf Coast, then set the truck on fire and attempted to flee the area and authorities in a kayak.

Honestly, part of me wishes Goynes had evaded capture for at least a short while because I would honestly like to know where she thinks she was going to go in a kayak on a body of water the size of the Gulf of Mexico.
