Texas City Asking For Payment From Former President Trump
As reported by KTSM, the city of El Paso seeking funds from the former President. The funds themselves have not been paid, at the time of writing. The total amount requested by the city is a combination of two factors.
Per KTSM, the fees totaled by the city have reached the amount of $569,204.63. This includes the starting costs of $470,417.05, and a late fee, that is one-time, totaling $98,787.58.
Further Issues Reported By Other Cities Regarding Payment
As revealed by NBC Montana, another city in the United States has asked for payment from Trump. They revealed that Bozeman is requesting money as well, for various services. The overall amount owned is $12,922.82.
Included in the total are services for officer salaries, dispatcher salaries, Office of Emergency Management, and miscellaneous items. Myles Martin, FEC public affairs specialist, revealed this when asked by NBC Montana if it was illegal for the former president to not pay:
“There is no specific provision in FEC regulations for congressional or presidential campaign committees that speaks to expenses incurred by a state or local municipality in connection with a federal officeholder’s or candidate’s campaign event(s)...While federal campaigns are permitted to use campaign funds to reimburse for these security costs, Commission regulations do not specifically mandate that they do so.”
