Severe Weather in Texas Looks Wild From Space
A couple of videos popped up on my X.com feed today that feature some severe weather in Texas, but from a perspective most of us have not seen before: Space. The first one we will look at today shows how strong thunderstorms form in western Texas and western Oklahoma. Watching those clouds form is awesome, but when the lightning starts striking, the video becomes downright mesmerizing. Take a look:
That might be one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. While the view from Earth can look dark and scary during a storm, the satellite images from space show something different. They reveal the full shape of the storm and how it moves over time. It looks like something from a time-lapse video: clouds spinning, lightning flashing, and entire systems shifting across the continent.
Storms in Texas Look Intense From Space
The second video is of a lightning storm over Houston, Texas, which was filmed from the International Space Station as it traveled over Houston. The way the lightning looks blue as it flashes across the screen is awesome.
