It's always sad to see a staple in your city close after so many years in business but I guess as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Although one door may be closing for one business, another door is opening for another's expansion.

The Sandwichery in Odessa has been serving the Permian Basin for 37 years and this morning in a Facebook post announced that they would be closing and turning over the reigns to a new business:

Good morning to all in The Odessa and surrounding area. The Sandwichery is announcing after 37 years in business that it is changing ownership. December 29, 2023 will be our last day to be The Sandwichery. We want to invite you in the last few days of December to enjoy your favorite sandwich and soup. Starting sometime in January the location at 1007 E. 6th in Odessa will be called Tall City Meat Market and Bbq. Michael Loya, the new owner will be opening his 3rd location. He has a location in Midland and Greenwood. Odessa will be another location to buy fresh meats and place to come dine in for some great BBQ. Thank you to everyone for 37 years for choosing The Sandwichery as your go to place for your dining place for Sandwiches. Steve and Rhonda Doan want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being able to serve you for 37 years at The Sandwichery. We wish all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please come in before Dec. 29th and have your favorite sandwich. See you all soon.

You can still enjoy The Sandwichery until December 29th, which will be their last day.

Odessa you can now enjoy the goodness of Tall City Meat Market without the drive. Owner Michael Loya opened his first location in Midland On January 4th, 2020.  As you can imagine what a struggle it was to start a business in the beginning of 2020 but Tall City Meat Market was able to hang on and grow. In the last few years, Loya was able to open a second location in Greenwood and now will be expanding to Odessa.

The tentative opening date for Tall City Meat Market Odessa is January 15th.
